Meet Frank

story

Meet Frank, a kid from San Bernardino that didn’t have the greatest of upbringings and made some choices, as we all do, and this landed him in some tough places.

What I love about Frank is that he’s a person that perseveres wherever he’s at whether it is in his neighborhood, a school or parenting class, or in this case a juvenile hall. So young Frank found himself in the hall, as one does, and as he’s serving out his time and trying to make the most of his situation, he finds the jackpot of the hall- a Bible. Frank didn’t just find the word of God, but he met God in the hall.

What is normally a difficult and challenging season in anyone’s life turned out to be the time in Frank’s life where he began to walk with the Lord and they come to know each other better through constant studying of the scripture and praying often for God to continue moving in his life.

With time, Frank decided it was time for him to get baptized and further cement this relationship with Jesus. But as he was about to do it he was transferred to a group home in good ol’ Fresno. God wasn’t done yet, however, as the home he was taken into was a group home that Youth For Christ regularly visits!

I am blessed to know Frank and incredibly honored to run this section of the marathon of faith alongside him. In fact, I got to baptize him at the Campus Life Center!

As Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 3:7 “It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.” God is always working and it is a great privilege to be partners in his work.

I love this about the gospel. Jesus meets us exactly where we’re at and makes the most out of our situation, even restoring us back to the community and inviting us to partner with Him. I find that Frank and I have a lot in common in that way.
