Rocked by the tragedy in Newtown on December 14th, we posted the following on our Fresno/Madera YFC Facebook page:

Love your kids.
Love others' kids.
Love kids whose parents don't care.
Love kids who don't have parents.
Love them while you can.
"And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them." Mark 10:16

The atrocity in Newtown reminded us that life is fragile.  Evil persists.  Our hearts of flesh are broken.  However, we have an advocate in heaven who loves us, and loves ALL of these little children, more than we can imagine.

“…for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

Just before his own agonizing death, Jesus prayed for his disciples.  Then he prayed for you and me.  Specifically.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” John 17:20-21

This is our advocate, the God we serve and proclaim.  He is good and faithful, desiring that each of us – each of his kids – will come to know him.  Happy New Year - God is good!
